About us

SEN TOKYO began with a simple belief: that beautiful things deserve a second life.

I'm the founder and designer behind SEN TOKYO, where I give new life to vintage kimono obi textiles by transforming them into one-of-a-kind, handcrafted bags. Each piece begins as a kimono obi — woven decades ago, often worn to celebrate life's most meaningful moments — and is carefully reshaped into something new, so its story can continue for generations.

Before starting SEN TOKYO, I spent years working as an English teacher and tour guide, sharing Japanese culture and history with people from around the world. That experience taught me something simple but lasting — people connect through stories, not just objects. It's a belief I carry into every bag I make.

Because no two obi are alike, no two SEN TOKYO pieces are either. Each one is handcrafted individually, in small batches, from start to finish.

Thank you for being part of this story.
